Where I’m Going, Where I’ve Been, Etc.

As many of you know, this year has been a year of change for me… I’ve lost over 200lbs, I got married to the most awesome woman on the planet, and I took a new job in Oklahoma City. Well, the winds of change continue to blow in my life as I find myself once again moving on and back home to KY. I made the decision to leave iThemes at the beginning of November. Yes, my time there was short, but it was an amazing experience and I made (hopefully) some life-long friends. Opportunities have arisen for me in the recent months that I simply could not pass up and consequently made me choose between them and my position at iThemes. There were many other factors that contributed to my decision, though I won’t go into them here, and so I opted to do what was best (long term) for me and my family.

Though I’m not entirely sure where the road takes me from here, I’m sure of one thing… It’s going to be an awesome ride! I recently completed my first course for Lynda.com and I’ve also been contracted to teach workshops for CreativeLIVE.com as well. These are two companies that I have wanted to be a part of for some time now and I’m honored that I’ve been given the opportunity to work with them. I’ll also be traveling around the country and speaking on behalf of Adobe at several corporate and AIGA events, promoting their new products and giving demos of awesome tools like the Digital Publishing Suite and Adobe Muse.

I plan to speak at several events in 2012 as well. Though my full schedule is still being planned I can tell you that I will once again be speaking at the Designer Developer Workflow Conference (D2WC) in Kansas City, MO this year as well as (hopefully) helping out on a few of their “road show” events around the country! I’m also planning to attend a few WordCamp events in 2012 and (of course) I’ll be back at Adobe MAX and (possibly) Photoshop World in D.C. as well.

As usual I will be sprinkling in a few podcasts here and there, and I’ll also be posting a ton of content here on my blog and on my YouTube channel as well. If you thought you were getting rid of me… Think again! I’m just getting started baby, so buckle up and enjoy the ride! I just wanted to give you a quick update on my situation since a few of you have inquired about it lately. I hope this clears things up and I hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday season.

  1. Justin! So glad to see you back online and posting again. Thanks for letting your followers know what’s up and where you’re going. I wish you and yours the best of luck in your new journeys. And if you do make it to DC please let me know ahead of time and perhaps we can meet up. I look forward to getting more fabulous training from you! BTW The batch watermarking really helped me a lot in a big artist project, which you can check out at: http://cartoonistjagtoons.com/gallery/ if you’d like – 220 images I had to watermark and resize. Thanks for your help with this.
Best to you and good luck!

  2. Hi Justin
Been replaying several of your webinars done over at Web Design – Attended several live when you did them. Just wanted to tell you I have learned a lot from you and hope to continue to “follow” you and learn from you – saying thanks and wishing you a happy holiday
Ronald Headley – screen name rheadley although I normally just watch and learn and do not say much in chat

    1. Hi Ronald, thanks for the comments! I had a lot of fun with the WebDesign.com community while I was there… Hope to continue seeing you around my new communities as well! My best to you and yours this holiday season.
