Botanical Falls

Recently I visited the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Downtown Oklahoma City, and if you’ve never been, you should go! This place was amazing. When I first arrived, I walked down into an area where a small amphitheater is located. On my way down to the amphitheater I noticed this awesome little waterfall. Now it was man-made, of course, but that didn’t matter… It was awesome. I must have looked pretty silly setting up my tripod and nearly laying on the ground to take the shots, but I got them nonetheless. What you see here is a 9 exposure HDR image of the falls. I’m pretty happy with the result and can’t wait to continue down the HDR rabbit hole!

I’m pretty sure he knew I was there and that I was taking his picture, so he decided to just play it cool. Well, little did he know that he actually gave me one of my best shots of the day!

A Tough Day at the Office

This photo was taken at the Oklahoma City Zoological Park. The Photo does have an HDR-esque appearance, but in actuality it’s just one photo. I used Photomatix and Topaz Adjust to process the image, but it’s from a single exposure. I couldn’t help but to snap this quick shot because the gorilla had been looking so frustrated with all of the people surrounding him and then finally just threw back his head as if to say “what a day.”

I recently purchased a DSLR camera after (sort of) shunning photography for the last 4-5 years. My reason for purchasing the DSLR? Well, I wanted to experiment with this new phenomenon that’s sweeping the world of photography called HDR. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range and though it’s meant to produce images which closely represent what the human eye actually sees, it’s more commonly known for producing surreal images with almost a painted look.
