Processing HDR Photos

As I continue to go further down the rabbit hole of HDR photography, there have been a lot of people asking me exactly how I process my images and what tools I use to produce them. In this video I walk you step-by-step through my workflow of processing an HDR image. Of course you do have to get the setup correct with you camera, but I’m assuming you know how to do that already. If not, here’s a quick little checklist:

  1. Put your camera on a tripod… This is a MUST.
  2. Shoot in Aperture Priority (AV) Mode at around F11 or higher.
  3. Shoot at a low ISO to avoid noise in the sky.
  4. Set your camera to Auto Bracket (AEB) Exposures, at 1 stop increments.
  5. Set your focal point and then switch to Manual Focus.
  6. Shoot anywhere from 3-9 exposures depending on the scene.

Once you’ve done ALL of that… Check out the video above to see how I process an HDR scene. For more information about HDR or how to process it like the pros, check out Trey Ratcliff’s Blog.
